About the Artist

Belize on your walls

I'm Taylor, the artist behind Carma Visions. I paint original works and fine art prints that carry the light, color, and stillness of Belize into everyday spaces.

My flagship body of work, The Belize Collection, was created for Tesoro Island Resort and now lives on the walls of the island it was made for.

How Belize Became the Brief

In 2022, my partners and I sat down in Hopkins, Belize to pitch investors on a small boutique hotel. By dessert, the plan had changed completely.

We were no longer building a hotel on the mainland.
We were buying an island.

Wee Wee Caye is an old marine research base about seven miles off the coast. Not untouched sand and infinity pools. Half finished structures, a mangrove forest, and a lot of potential.

My job was everything you could see: the brand, the full art collection, and the guest experience. My entire creative brief arrived as a single word from our operations partner:

Vibrant.

How I figured it out

A method built from scratch, one bite at a time.

Step 01

Measured the walls

No blueprints existed. Tape measure on site, hundreds of photos, every dimension written by hand.

Step 02

Built mood boards

Pinterest, hotel art, resort listings, researched until the word "vibrant" had a shape.

Step 03

100 in 3 days

One hundred small paintings, ten minutes each. Momentum over clarity, until the themes surfaced.

Step 04

One room at a time

Eat the elephant one bite at a time. The honeymoon suite first, then a single Belize animal per room.

Painting An Island From One Word

When I started, I had never built a cohesive body of work in my life. My portfolio was a museum of other people’s dreams and mismatched styles. There were no blueprints, no final room measurements, no confirmed palette. The spaces were still under construction and changing weekly.

So I began with the only clear constraint I had and let one word carry the weight of an entire island.

Vibrant meant more than color. It meant humidity, salt, and late afternoon light on the water. It meant the way the reef feels when you are still dripping from the boat. Every canvas in The Belize Collection was painted to make a Tesoro guest feel that again the moment they walked back to their room.

The result is the most cohesive body of work of my career: a series of paintings built to belong to one specific place, and to anyone who wants a piece of that place to live with them long after they leave the island.
