For the angler who lives for the fight. A sailfish breaks the surface, all speed and electric color, pulling hard against the line. Patience, resistance, and the moment you finally win. Painted for The Belize Collection after the walls at Tesoro Island Resort, a private island off the coast of Belize, were already full.
Field Note · Las Vegas studio
Sportfishing is one of the biggest draws off the coast of Belize, though I'm no angler myself. What pulled me to the sailfish was the fight: the pull, the resistance, the patience it takes to win. Building this island felt exactly like that.

Painted for an island, made to be lived with.
The whole brief for the collection was one word: vibrant. Twenty paintings for a resort in Belize, each one built around a single animal.
This is what the work does on a wall: you walk in and know, before you have thought about it, that you are somewhere alive.
